How to Copy the Path of a File or a Folder to the Clipboard

Have you ever found you need to copy a path in File Explorer to the clipboard? When working with Windows, it's not unusual to have to dig through numerous folders and sometimes need to save that path. In reverse, there are times when having a shortcut to files or folders that are buried deep in File Explorer. In this guide, we show you how to copy a file path to your clipboard.
Worth mentioning, once you have a path copied, you need to be able to paste it. Most programs will allow you to right-click and choose Paste, or press CTRL + V on your keyboard.
Use the File Menu
One of the simplest ways to accomplish this in File Explorer is to click on Home > Copy Path. One limitation here is that File Explorer will only copy the path in the right pane.
Keyboard Shortcut
One of our favorite ways to copy a path is to keyboard shortcuts. Here's two you can try depending on your needs.
Press Shift + Right Click as simply click on Copy as path.
Press ALT + D. As you can see in the screenshot below, as soon as you press ALT + D, the path will appear, highlighted. Right-click over the highlighted text and select copy.
Try a Third-Party App
