How to Change the Default New Folder Name in Windows 10 & 11
When you create a new folder in Windows 10, the default name is New Folder. If you like, with a registry edit, we can change the default New Folder name.
You can use any name for the default folder, but \ / ? : * " > < | ' are not allowed. You should also be aware that anything you create when you click on New will also have the same name.
You can download the Registry Files from MajorGeeks, but you must open the Registry file with Notepad or any text editor. Look for My New Folder and change that to the folder name you want.
Right-click on a blank area on the left side, and click New > Key and name that NamingTemplates
On the right-side of the NamingTemplate key, right-click and click New > String Value.
Name the new string RenameNameTemplate.
Double-click on RenameNameTemplate and enter your new folder name under Value data.
So, why would you do this? One good use would be a gag. Change the New Folder name on someone's computer to Virus Inside and wait for it...
If people are interested, I might create the registry files where you'd only have to edit the registry file like a text document and change your preferred folder name.
