How to Disable Feature Update Blocking in Windows 10 & 11
By Timothy Tibbetts |
Windows 10 Feature Updates are often postponed for many due to known issues. If you'd like to download the latest feature update right away, you can bypass what Microsoft calls Feature Update Block Safeguard.
Before you proceed, there are two considerations.
First, you still might not get the latest Feature update. Go figure. Second, and more importantly, your computer could stop working or have hardware issues due to driver compatibility issues (the most common problem). In other words, this is a bad idea. So, let's do it!
Open the Registry Editor.
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
If you don't have the WindowsUpdate key, right-click on the Windows folder and click New > Key and name that WindowsUpdate.
On the right, right-click and click on New > DWORD (32-bit Value) and name it DisableWUfBSafeguard.
Double-click on DisableWUfBSafeguard and change the Value data to 1.
Click on OK.
Reboot.
To revert changes, you can delete the DisableWUfBSafeguard key.
