How to Enable or Disable System Restore or Configuration in Windows 10 & 11
System Restore can undo changes to your computer following a problem. If you use Reset This PC, have a backup image, or already keep a registry backup, you can disable System Restore.
Windows 10 users are less likely to use System Restore, yet it is on by default.
Open Group Policy Editor. Windows 10 Home users will need to enable Group Policy Editor.
Open Group Policy Editor and navigate to:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > System Restore
Double-click on Turn off System Restore.
Click Enabled.
Click OK.
If you do the same steps for Turn off Configuration, that will block access to anyone changing your System Restore settings.
