How to Activate After Reinstalling Windows 10
By Timothy Tibbetts |
How you activate Windows 10 after reinstalling depends on how Windows 10 was initially installed on your device.
If you upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous version of Windows, then you don't have a product key so simply skip where it asks for a product key and Windows will activate automatically after installation.
It's also a good idea to be sure Windows 10 was already activated before you try to reinstall it.
Go to Start, Settings, Update & security, Activation. If Windows 10 isn’t activated on your device, see Get help with Windows 10 activation errors.
If you don't have Windows 10 you can download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and create a Windows 10 DVD. All you need is a blank DVD and a free program like BurnAware Free to burn it.
