How to Disable Start Menu Auto Expand On Mouse Over in Windows 10
By Timothy Tibbetts |
Starting with Windows 10 build 1909, the Start Menu has some changes in store for you. One difference is that mousing over any icons on the left column will auto-expand. If you don't like this new feature, here's how to disable it.
You'll need to download the free Mach2 app.
Extract the files anywhere you like, preferably somewhere you can find easily from PowerShell.
Open PowerShell and go to the folder where you extracted Mach2.
Type in mach2 disable 18715789
You should see OK.
By default, Powershell may not allow you to run commands so if you receive an error type in .\mach2 disable 18715789
You'll need to log out or reboot for the changes to take effect.
Here is a before and after:
If you change your mind later, you can restore the new Start Menu by using mach2.exe enable 18715789.
