Scam Alert: Malwarebytes Confirmation and Invoice Emails
Fake or scam emails are nothing new. Some people have received emails from Malwarebytes confirming you purchased 1-5 devices of protection, often at the cost of over $500.
Malwarebytes is a popular app that removes malware and more, so they're an obvious target for scammers. We like to alert people to these scams and take the opportunity to point out how to spot similar fake emails.
We rarely see a well-written scam email, and frankly, when we do, we're impressed. Most scams have a problem properly translating to English from their language, which is often the most obvious sign of a scam email.

This Malwarebytes scam has a few obvious discrepancies:
Fake email address. This email address does not end with malwarebytes.com, and it's not even close.
Spelled Malwarebytes incorrectly. Twice.
Price is much higher than Malwarebytes charges.
Fake phone number.
There are a few other minor discrepancies that some might not notice but could help identify other fake emails. The tax rate might be low for some states. Finding a phone number for support at Malwarebytes isn't easy, but you can find the sales number. If you were wondering, it's 1-800-520-2796. The support hours are Eastern Time, but Malwarebytes is on the west coast or Pacific Standard Time.
