How to Uninstall Microsoft Edge Browser if Uninstall is Grayed Out
By Timothy Tibbetts |
Beginning in late June, Microsoft began pushing the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge to Windows 10. The update is delivered with KB4559309, and once installed, the Chromium-based Edge replaces the old Edge, and the Uninstall button is light gray and can't be clicked.
We know some of you will be pissed off and want to remove Microsoft Edge from your operating system.
Video tutorial:
Open File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application.
Find the number of the Edge build installed on your computer and open that folder.
Open the Installer folder.
Type cmd in the address bar of File Explorer.
Type in setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall
When the Command Prompt returns an empty line, you're all set.
If you receive an error using the above Command Prompt command, reboot and try again.
We recommend you bookmark this page (CTRL+D) as it's not known if Microsoft Edge will be installed again on Feature Updates.
