Windows 10 & 11 Taskbar Won't Hide
By Timothy Tibbetts |
When you're using an app, game, or watching a video, you might find that the Taskbar isn't hidden as it should be. Here are a few things to try.
1: Windows 10 & 11 Taskbar Won't Hide - Restart File Explorer
There are a few ways to restart File Explorer, but our favorite way to restart File Explorer is to use Task Manager.
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click Task Manager. Right-click on Windows Explorer and click Restart. If you don't see Windows Explorer, click on More details.
If you're not comfortable, you can always reboot.
If the problem repeats occasionally, you can add 'Restart Explorer' Context Menu in Windows 10 to simplify the process next time.
2: Windows 10 & 11 Taskbar Won't Hide - Check Taskbar Settings
Right-click on the taskbar and click on Click on Taskbar settings OR click Start > Settings > Personalization. Click on Taskbar on the left.
Verify that Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode is On.
3: Windows 10 & 11 Taskbar Won't Hide - Keyboard Combination
Sometimes all you need to do is press the Windows Key + S, then click anywhere on your screen to close the search. If you have the search box on your taskbar, click in the search box, and again, click anywhere on your screen to close the search.
It sounds simple, but it's been known to work.
