How to Fix Windows Update Error 0x800706d9

When updating Windows, you might receive an error code 0x800706d9. You are probably seeing "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later."

Note that most Windows Updates problems use the same fixes regardless of the error code although this particular error requires verifying your Firewall is running.

1: Windows Update Error 0x800706d9 - Run The Troubleshooter

Always try a troubleshooter when available first. Press Start > Settings > Update & security. Click on Troubleshoot on the left.

Click on Additional troubleshooters.

Scroll down and click on Windows Update, then Run the troubleshooter.

net start bits
