uBlock Origin Lite gives you a permission-less content blocker that blocks ads, trackers, miners, and more. It is based on Manifest V3 technology which operates without requiring specific permissions from the user. It effectively blocks unwanted content on web pages to provide a smoother and more streamlined browsing experience.

uBlock Origin Lite allows users to continue using most of uBlock's features even when the original is slated to be unsupported on newer versions of Chrome (Manifest V3). You can check if you have an extension that will no longer be supported by heading over to chrome://extensions/. Any extensions in this category will show a message saying (screenshot # 1), "These extensions may soon no longer be supported." You can find alternatives, and there will be suggestions. Since we know that uBlock is in this soon-to-be unsupported category, we found uBlock Origin Lite. Unfortunately, it lacks some of the features of the full uBlock Origin.

You can add more rulesets by going to the options page and clicking the "Cogs" icon in the popup panel.

The developers of uBlock Origin Lite have intentionally designed the extension to function without requiring wide-ranging "read and modify data" permissions during installation. This approach results in the extension having more restricted capabilities out of the box when compared to uBlock Origin or other content blockers that necessitate wider permissions at the time of installation.

It's important to note that uBlock Origin Lite gives users the ability to explicitly grant extended permissions on specific sites of their choosing. By doing so, the extension can enhance its filtering capabilities on those selected sites through the use of cosmetic filtering and scriptlet injections. This provides users with the flexibility to customize and optimize the extension's performance according to their individual preferences and needs. To give a specific site more access, open the pop-up panel and choose a higher filtering mode like Optimal or Complete.

The browser will alert you about granting extra extension permissions on the current site. You then choose to accept or decline the request.
