Traveling is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable and more times than not it is. But the planning of a trip can really be a pain but it doesn't need to be. Below we put together a nice little package of 4 Android apps that will make the planning of your dream trip easy easier - best of all you can do it right from the palm of your hand where ever and whenever you have time.

First off you need to get to your place of leisure and the following app is a great offering in that regard - I have used it on many occasions to travel and have never had an issue.

Orbitz for Android lets you quickly and easily search and book hotel rooms, flights, vacation packages, and rental cars.

Plus, join Orbitz Rewards and start earning Orbucks when you book flights (1%), hotels (5%), and vacation packages (1%) -- you can instantly redeem Orbucks on hotels!

You can also view booked itineraries, check for flight delays during travel, and get trip reminders via Google Now. Orbitz offers a simple, secure booking process, a Best Price Guarantee, and 24x7 customer support.

View your itineraries 24x7 – even offline. Get info on flight delays and gate changes, plus directions to your hotel. Now you can book up to 4 hotel rooms at once on the app, plus mix-and-match room types.

Now if you are looking to get away from the all the other tourists and have a real low key stay or maybe just get off the beaten path then this next app will fit that bill nicely.

Airbnb for Android opens the door to the world’s most interesting places to stay and is the simplest way to earn money from your extra space.

With over 450,000 listings in more than 34,000 cities, it connects you with the experience that’s right for you. Airbnb helps you locate, save and share the best places to stay and allows you to book any listing right from your phone using the same secure payment platform as Airbnb.com.

For travelers:

Explore:
Find, save, and share the perfect place to stay
Go:
Check your itinerary, communicate with your host, and locate your listing on the go

For hosts:

Get acquainted
Get to know your guests before you say yes, all from your phone
Manage your listing
Review upcoming reservations, update your calendar and send messages from Host Home
Be your best host
Our host groups and new Hospitality Center put great advice at your fingertips

Once you are all settled into your accommodations you can use the next app for all your transportation needs - cheap.

Lyft for Android gets an affordable ride in minutes. Instead of hailing a cab or waiting for the bus, just request a car with the tap of a button, and get picked up by a nearby friendly driver who’ll take you to your destination right away.

If you are concerned about safety please note that all drivers pass comprehensive background and DMV checks before being approved for the service, are rated by passengers and only the highest-rated drivers are allowed on the road, and carry a $1M liability insurance for total peace of mind.

Using Lyft for Android:

• Getting Started: After downloading and signing up, simply open the app and request a ride.
• Paying: Never worry about having cash for a cab or the bus again — you pay directly through your phone. It’s easy, fast, and secure.
• Split the Cost: Easily split the cost of a ride with friends through the app. No more IOU’s.

About Lyft for Android Drivers

• All drivers pass comprehensive background and DMV checks before being approved for the service.
• Drivers are rated by passengers and only the highest-rated drivers are allowed on the road.
• Lyft for Android provides a first-of-its-kind $1M liability insurance for total peace of mind.

Now that you have all the basics for your survival while on holiday it would probably be a good idea to check the weather - just to make sure that it isn't snowing on Oahu or pouring rain in the Mojave desert. ;)

WeatherBug for Android allows you to access the world’s largest network of real-time weather and lightning sensors for the best forecasts, the fastest alerts and more.

The Weather Channel app is a pretty popular app but I found it a pain to use on my Android devices, leading me to search for something better. I had avoided WeatherBug because it isn’t a popular app for the desktop but for the Android app; it’s a winner. It can always show you the temperature in the top corner of your screen and everything is laid out so you never find yourself searching for the information you want. Everything is right there including temperature, humidity, wind, sunrise, sunset, alerts and more. There are tabs to jump to hourly, 10-day and details as well as thumbnails at the bottom for radar, photos, summary, live cams, pollen and more. At the time of this write-up, it is one of the better weather apps I have used.

WeatherBug for Android Features:

  • Pollen Map Layer: Easily manage your allergies with our latest map layer showing today’s local and national allergy forecast
  • Account Management: Sign in with a WeatherBug or Facebook account to sync your saved locations and settings across devices, and access additional features
  • Spanish & Portuguese language support
  • Real-Time Pinpoint Forecasts: Get the most accurate current, hourly and 10-day weather forecasts
  • Enhanced Interactive Map: Visualize weather conditions with over 17 map layers
  • Spark Lightning Alerts: Your personal lightning detector, Spark gives you minute-by-minute, mile-by-mile lightning proximity alerts
